Scrap Scene...great place to go for ideas!

What have you all been up to this weekend?

I have some reporting on my daily activities, but no time to post much right now. Hold tight though, I do have some pics to upload later on!

Back to the great place for ideas....I really like this place that I found on the web. Check it out~~ I am tempted to make some little birds and hang them on a branch in my window this winter!

Happy Sunday everyone! It's cold and really wet here in Seattle! Blah!

P.S. I just found out I won this blog candy from a local stamp place here in WA (Redmond & Poulsbo):
http://stampedinhisimage.blogspot.com/
I always check out this site because Julie has some amazingly creative and gorgeous ideas! Thank you so much, Julie!

Saturday's at Susan G Komen croppin event...and blog candy!!

On Saturday my friend Tammy and I drove more than 1 & 1/2 hours to reach Olympia, WA for a 12 hour cropping event. Normally we would not go that far for a one day event - and this time we knew we needed to leave well before the event was over for a prior committment. (One cannot pass up a chance to crop, right?)

Since I was lucky enough to win the tickets for the crop thanks to Deanna Shain at www.dw-shain.blogspot.com and www.creative-outlet-retreats.blogspot.com we decided to GO! (I think I was one of two people that entered...what are the chances? oh yea, 50/50...I'm so glad I got it though!)

We had a FABULOUS time and met a mother & daugher scrappin 'team' who sat across from us. Team Ardelle and Stephanie were up on ALL the latest and greatest stuff! These ladies were HOT on the scrappin scene I tell you! I only wish I had thought to bring a camera! DANG! Anyway, it was an entire day of fun, laughter, creativity (there were two WONDERFUL make n takes, a great auction with benefits proceeding Susan G Komen breast cancer awareness, lots of snackies, and a yummy pizza dinner!).

We had a chauffer for the day who drove us back and forth to the sponsoring store, "Sharin Memories", in Olympia - WOW!!! I thought I was lucky to have Lasting Memories scrapbooking store right here near my home, but BOY OH BOY - this new place was AWESOME!!! I keep trying to talk them into opening a store closer to me (so I can go and work there and buy them a mansion with all the stuff that I would be buying!) If you are EVER in WA and get a chance to stop by this place, you GOTTA check them out!! They carry a bunch of great stamps and there are tons of super great, top-notch creative samples all over the store! Thank you so much to Deanna Shain, Patti, Sharon, and all of the ladies and especially our wonderful chauffer!! I am sorry Mr. Chauffer, but I never got your name! :( We dearly appreciated the extra special attention that we got!

I will put some pics up hopefully later tonight showing you all what I made! And I will also get the blog candy up. Here's what the blog candy deal is: The all day crop was free, right, because I won the tickets! However, you all know what happens when you get something for free....that means you saved a lot of money... and when you save a lot of money, it means you can buy other stuff!!!! Well, anyone want to guess what the total for my buying spree was that day?? Let's include the coffee and muffin at Starbucks when I started the day...all the way to the end of the day when I finished up with a latte and espresso coffee-cake. The person who comes closest to the penny without going over will win the blog candy! Picture with the blog candy to come....I have to gather it all together first!!! :) I'll take guesses through Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time. As always, no one is to share the final answer with my husband...he knows the crop was free...and that's all he needs to know!

P.S. I've also gone PINK for October!! I hope you all share information on breast cancer awareness with the women in your lives!! And give them a little love kiss and hug while you're at it!

And check out these VERY fun, very cute little witch shoe treat holders from wiggydl on splitcoast:

Halloween Cards

Here is a series of cards from a swap that the gals in my office like to organize. I took some of the pics with these little country bean bag critters that the kids used to play with when they were little. I got them from the Gift Show years ago - there used to be more of them...hmmm. Wonder what happened to the other ones? Perhaps their bean filled guts were sprayed across the floor when the kids went wild?

The paper is from Memory Box (bought it last year on sale a few days after Halloween - can't beat 50% off!)

Ribbon is by May Arts - it is double faced satin in yellow & orange - very nice! I have plenty of it if anyone wants some! Email me for details at eyp963@msn - and put ribbon share into the subject line. I'll sell it for my cost + whatever shipping was.

Stickers are from the Michael's dollar bin, other embellishments were just in the collection of stuff that needs to be used up!

All other paper is from Memory Box Spooky collection, but bought last year. Not sure if it is still available! I've seen the new collection for this year, but I think I will wait until they are on sale. I am going broke with all of the stuff I've bought lately!

Also, you may know that I love A muse stamps and that they are right here in Seattle. BUT,, did you know that they're also in Autin, TX? THat's right! Check out Crafty Engineer's blog for a listing of classes!

You heard it! My first SCS Challenge card - DONE!

This was from a challenge last week (when I was on vacation from work)....

Though it was sunny, the temps are definitely cooling down! The kids keep wanting the heat turned up - I can't stomach another oil bill (the last one was almost 2 grand...yes, TWO thousand dollars!!! That is a lot of stamps ladies!

Anyway, this was for the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge SC142. I put some sparkle on it because I saw a blog this morning that said if you make a sparkly card and combine challenges you'd have two entries for her blog candy and now I can't remember where that was! Oh well, I had fun anyway! The stamp is from Memory Box - I bought it off Ebay at Anna's store. She ships very fast and has been really helpful!! I had not done paper piecing before, but this one had all the right colors so I did it! I used Copics for the beak and webbed feet, but they are hard to use in small spaces! I did my best. The background papers are from Flair Designs and Memory Box. Thanks for stopping by to see my latest upload!

Cruisin'!!

Ok, I got Gina's email tonight and wanted to post this so that I can dream about going....I really really, want to go, but I don't think it is possible with work.....sigh. Maybe you will get to go in my place and will report back on all the fun that I'll miss out on. Details for the cruise sponsored by Gina K, Stamping Bella and PaperTrey are here: http://www.cruiseandcrop.com/SB_Craft_2008.htm

Thank you cards!

Did you get a lot done today? I felt like I did!

Long overdue, I finally made time to pop out a few thank you cards. These are going out to people online who have sent me blog candy, other treats (stamped images, ribbon and cute cards), or helped me out in some way!

Happy Sunday!

Oh, goodness! Every year at the end of summer, someone holds a big bash on the lake and they set off fireworks like it was the 4th of July again! I just heard them and looked out the window - sure enough, there is a GREAT BIG fireworks show going on!!!!! Luckily it's dark earlier in the day now! THey usually do this on a Saturday evening, but not this year....it's romantic to look out over the lake and watch more fireworks -especially when it is chilly outside. Too bad my dh was being a bh and I am not cozying up tonight! lol!! Enjoy the cards, ladies!

Vase/flowers stamp by Memory Box. I used watercolor paper and SU watercolor crayons. The corners are some K & Co. glittery pieces that tied the colors together nicely. The flowers on the medallion are primas and in the center is a little acrylic bauble just like the ones from the site that has Bellas!!

Bee Stamp by Stampendous. You can't see it but I glittered up their wings. It was colored with Prisma pencils and some copic sketch markers. The patterned paper is from one of those stacks at Joanns - this one had touches of glitteratti all over it! :) Primas in the corners and I used EYELETS because they have been neglected over the past few years!

Snow kids image was stamped for me by Ashley Bowen (thank you so much for all the images, Ashley!) Her blog is at www.ashleyscreativecorner.blogspot.com. She is a great inspiration and very talented! Colored with copic markers, I had some trouble with the ground - it looks kind of poopy-ish - I should have stuck with a grey or blue on the ground. It was still fun to play with Copics though.

These two photos dropped out of the other post:

This is the football shaped layout.

And there is the one with the sign that swivels up to say, "Win".

Thanks for stopping by!

Finally loaded some projects to share!

The new camera is GREAT!!!!!!! (...when it focuses right!)

I am not sure how or why the two shots on one project came up so poorly. I use the auto setting and all of the other pictures came out nice! But I took those two pages over and over and they still look blurry. DH said it was because I was shaking the camera or moved it when I shot...8 times in a row though?? .... I think it could be more than that! The other 45 shots came out much clearer!

In any case, here's one of the projects: It is football season and some of the gals that I work with have sons who play football so I did a couple of mini albums. This is the first one, for Zachz pictures. I forgot there is also a little plaque that has his initials, "ZG" that I'll add to the ring and hopefully remember to take a picture of before giving it away!

First pic is the front cover and a little extra chipboard card that I attached with the ball-linked-chain stuff (the chain came off a pair of jeans that my son got- and it was free! I wish I could remember which jeans they were - we'd go buy more of them!). Does anyone know where to get this in the dark bronze color? I need more for other projects!

Second picture is the back of the card and another shot of the cover.

Next are the inside pages - there is an interactive chipboard that swings around and says "Win" on one of the pages. Since these are small coaster sized pages I didn't have a lot of room for too much stuff. Mostly it is stickers and some patterned paper. Most ribbon seemed a little too girly so I kept it to a minimum. The only part that I really struggled with were the eyelets. On the back side of the eyelets it looks crummy. I may go for some punched reinforcements to cover up the unsightly eyelets on the back side. If you have any suggestions on how to fix them, let me know! I'm not giving this to her until the end of the week.

So there's today's project. I will try to re-take the bad pages on the other projects. All are mini-scrapbooks thus far - no cards. Sorry!

Long time no see!!

Well ladies, it's been a busy month!

Summer appears to be over in Seattle. The weather is cool and not very pretty outside. I have been on vacation this week and we had my daughter's birthday, nephew's birthday, brother's birthday, our anniversary and my birthday! WHEW....ya know what? We're not done with birthdays yet!!! -- December must be a really good time of year for our families, huh?? heheheh!

The REALLY good news: I got a new CAMERA!!!! And that's not all! Hubby also ordered a new camera cord (again) for the first camera. SO, I can take pictures of all the things that I made this week! I've been on a roll with mini scrapbooks!!

My Papertrey replacement tin arrived, and I realized that I had not yet ordered my new sets from the latest release! I did buy candy to fill the tins, and wouldn't you know - it never made it to the containers - just disappeared, right from the bag that I brought it home in! I don't know what happened, but it may be time to get a detective to figure out who's eating all the candy in the house! Time to get cracking on those little cute containers so no more candy disappears!

Oh yes, and I think some blog candy may be in order soon. Probably closer to the end of the month once all these birthdays have passed! yikes~ This is worse than Christmas time!

Labor Day!

The last official weekend before summer....a signal that the long lazy days of summer are coming to an end....time to go back to school....and a busy month ahead!

We just came home from visiting my sister-in-law at the lake. The weather could not have been better. Upper 80's and very dry. We spent 95% of the time sitting around the pool or on the boat in the lake. We're all a little more tan now! (and hubby is looking good!!! - Oh, yessss!) The kids want me to take them to the mall for one last shopping trip which means my bank account and credit cards will be burned even further...

I did make a couple cards while we were at the lake, but it was hard to want to do anything other than sit and relax while in the sun...and some people kept splashing anyway!

I hope you all had an enjoyable summer! My order from May Arts is due in any day -- and my birthday is coming up so maybe, just maybe I'll get a new camera or a new cord so I can start putting my cards and things up!!! :)

Happy end of summer, everyone!! For those of you that love fall festivities, time to get ready for pumpkins and feasts!!
